In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Magnum's early color prints, the Fujifilm GFX 50S II, Chatting the Pictures, Truth in Photography and surreal portraits.
- Magnum's Early Color, a New Exhibition at the Magnum Gallery in Paris takes you on a journey through color photography of the 20th century from Bischof to Barbey in 40 prints.
- Kirk Tuck acquired a barely used Fujifilm GFX 50S II for a song and posts his first Austin slide show of image taken with a 50mm f3.5 lens for that system. "One thing about the GFX50Sii that I have to say I really love is the top mounted display with the big wheels which show the aperture and the ISO or the aperture and shutter speed setting (depending on how you have them set)," he writes.
- In Chatting the Pictures, Michael Shaw and Cara Finnegan discuss a photo of Trump and His Body Man taken by Doug Mills in 2023:
- Truth in Photography has issued its Summer 2023 edition. It features three pieces on the theme of Focus and two on Love Songs.
- Jasenka Grujin showcases 21 Surreal Portraits That Will Transport You to a Fantasy World. She covers whimsical portraits, fantasy-inspired cosplay plus digital art and manipulation.
More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
