In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at AP's Week in Pictures, NFL camera tech, interesting photography, a darkroom plan, Dusk to Dawn and Nikon Live videos.

  • The Associate Press showcases its global Week in Pictures with images of Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus Prince William and other earth-shaking events.
  • In How Technology Brings the NFL Super Bowl to Life, LensRentals covers everything from EFP to Skycams to pylon cameras. "When done correctly, the average person gets the best seat in the house, in the comfort of their own living room." Which is where we'll be Sunday. Gotta see if Kelce proposes.
  • Kirk Tuck spends A Gloomy Day with his Leica CL and Voigtlander 40mm f1.4 Nokton. Which prompts him to compare the endless features of new technology to the limited ones of older gear. "The interesting thing to me about photography and gear is that in the time that AF, AE and digital everything have become the standard in cameras the level of interesting photography in general hasn't gotten one bit better than where we were in the late days of film," he writes. On his modern keyboard, not his Olivetti.
  • In The Secret Darkroom of Walter Mitty, Mike Johnston decides the best reason to build a darkroom these days is to show how things used to be done to the unwary rather than use it to make prints.
  • Rocky Nook has published the second edition of Dusk to Dawn, Glenn Randall's guide to landscape photography at night. The ebook is available now and the printed edition is available for pre-order with an estimated shipping date of May 28.
  • Nikon has posted videos from its Nikon Live presentations at Imaging USA. We've linked to the one from which you can find the others in the panel on the right. Or you can choose from the latest list.

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
